One of the things I love most about the end of a year is seeing what this most measurable medium, called the internet, can deliver us in terms of data. I love to learn what people Googled, what they Instagrammed, what they Tweeted, and what they Facebooked over a calendar year.

GOOGLE

Google released the video below, which is a visual depiction of the most searched terms in 2013.



The top trending searches, globally, on Google, were:

  5. Harlem Shake
  6. Boston Marathon
  7. Royal Baby
  8. Samsung Galaxy S4

INSTAGRAM

The picture below, posted by Justin Bieber, was the first to attract over 1 million likes.

Instagram's most popular hashtag was #love, while New York was its most geo-tagged city in the world.

Facebook decided to feature its 2013 trends using the incredible talents of the cast of Anchorman 2.
