SYDNEY: Haig Kayserian, KAYWEB Founder and noted Internet Business Consultant, has attacked online giants Groupon for sending mixed messages to their community over a legal dispute over how the company will trade in Australia.

In his blog titled Groupon has failed to make a stand in Australia, Kayserian introduces the Groupon conundrum that has forced the 'deal a day' global powerhouse to trade under a different name in Australia.

While the Groupon team is fighting a legal battle with two individuals who are accused of illegally trademarking Groupon in Australia and buying the groupon.com.au, they are also leaving a settlement offer on the table for the duo to accept and avoid legal consequences.

Kayserian wrote in his blog: "If the Leibovitches broke the law, and Groupon want to criticise them for doing that, they cannot simultaneously offer them a reward for the alleged illegal act.

"It is rewarding the perpetrator and it is sending mixed messages to potential supporters about what you really stand for. Does Groupon stand for business legitimacy and doing no evil? Or does Groupon cave for the sake of a quicker resolution to a trademark dispute and .com.au domain name?

"Make a stand. Or don't. But don't do both!"
