The most difficult conversation I always have with clients is explaining how many factors actually contribute to their website's ranking on Google.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO), I tell them, is a science. There is not one single thing that influences results. There are actually many variables that, when intertwined, can produce the desired search engine presence for their website.

Our SEO service does it all, but of course, if clients are savvy and have the time and resources to dedicate, they can educate themselves enough to be the SEO influencer for their own website. Most of the time, time and resources are at a premium, which is why we are happy to help at KAYWEB - as are our many competitors.

Education is still key though, as if a client is unaware of what SEO should entail, they cannot properly measure whether their provider is doing all that they should be to ensure optimal rankings.

I came across a PERIODIC TABLE OF SEO SUCCESS FACTORS recently, as published by searchengineland.com, and I felt it was necessary I share this with clients. It can really serve to see the vastness of scope for SEO, and also can serve to provide the key education mentioned above.

See the table below, or larger version by clicking here, and enjoy!

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is an ever-changing phenomenon.

With Google fielding 100 billion search queries every month, it has constantly had to alter its algorithms to keep its results relevant to users. The rise of the social web user has meant link-building has taken on new meaning. And the advent of mobile search has led to further core changes in user behavior.

What hasn't changed is that SEO remains about 'site make-up', 'content' and 'link popularity'.

However in the 'content' and 'link popularity' department, significant changes are happening.

Where SEO consultants, like us at KAYWEB, once suggested you come up with content for users as well as content for search engines, they have now learned that these two need to be one and the same.

Basically, the best way to build links to your website, thus increase its popularity with search engines, is by creating content that people themselves will share with their social and professional networks online.

Therefore if your 'people content' and your 'search engine content' are different, you will not achieve the success you once did.

Modern SEO means the two types of content are no longer mutually exclusive. Modern SEO means you must do your keyword research, then come up with content that uses these keywords, which people would want to share on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, etc.

If you marry 'content search engines want' and 'content people want to share', you are on your way to SEO success.

I came across an old article on the web yesterday, and felt it did a great job of explaining SEO (search engine optimization) basics to small business.

Click through to the 'Simple SEO Tips For Small Businesses' article on Search Engine Land. It is a good place to begin to understand the importance of site structure, keyword placement, keyword density, social media link building, and other link building in search engine optimization.

Good luck. If you need professional help, KAYWEB is here!
